Excluded Tasks

Here are some examples of tasks that are typically excluded from our PHC and PAS services:

Irrigation of body cavities.
Application of sterile dressings involving prescription medications and aseptic techniques.
Tube feedings.
Injections.
Administration of medication.
Any other skilled services identified by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission nurse.

Additionally, services that maintain an entire family or household, unless the entire household receives the service, are also excluded. Examples include preparing meals for the entire family or household and washing clothing or bedding that the individual in our care does not use.

Examples include aiding with dressing, eating, restroom use, wheelchair maneuvering, and vehicle accessibility at the worksite. These examples serve as a foundation, highlighting the self-care activities for which PAS may be useful.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for enrollment in the PHC program, eligible individuals residing in Texas must meet specific criteria. They must be aged 21 or older and require assistance with at least one activity of daily living, such as bathing, grooming, eating, or toileting. Additionally, their functional limitation must be attributed to a documented medical diagnosis as certified by a healthcare professional.

For single applicants aged 65 and above in 2024, their monthly income must not exceed $943. Likewise, for married couples, the combined monthly income threshold cannot exceed $1,415 to be eligible for participation in the program.
